Woburn Man Fatally Injured After His Motorcycle Strikes Guardrail in Danvers – Sunday Update – Man Identified

DANVERS Sunday Update – The operator in the fatal motorcycle crash which occurred on July 30, 2017 at 1:32 a.m. has been identified as JOSEPH ADDONIZIO, Jr., 35, of Woburn. The cause of this crash remains under investigation.

This morning, at approximately 1:32 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Danvers responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on Route 128 Southbound, just prior to Exit 21 in Danvers near the Beverly town line. Upon arrival, troopers discovered that a 2013 Harley Davidson had struck a guardrail. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Woburn, was determined to be deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Preliminary investigation has revealed that it does not appear any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

During the incident, all lanes were closed on Route 128 Northbound, and with the assistance of Beverly Police, detoured at Exit 20B (Route 1A) in Beverly. The right lane was opened to traffic at approximately 5:17 a.m. All lanes were reopened at approximately 6:38 a.m.

The remaining facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by troopers assigned to the State Police Danvers Barracks. Troop A Headquarters, State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), Danvers Police, Beverly Police, Danvers Fire Department, Office of the State Medical Examiner, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) all assisted on scene.
