Endicott Men’s College Hockey Tops Salem State 8-2
BEVERLY — No. 4 Endicott jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the first two periods and coasted to an 8-2 win over Salem State at Raymond J. Borque Arena on Tuesday night. The Gulls are now 12-1 on the season while the Vikings now stand at 5-6.
Anthony Petrella (Hilton, N.Y) scored just 1:46 into the game and was followed by goals from Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) as Endicott jumped on top 3-0 in the first. The Gulls found the back of the net four times in the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead into the third. Petrella added his second of the game and was followed by Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa), Kalinowski and Jack Musil (Hull, England).
Brody Heleno (Mississauga, Ontario) broke the shutout for Salem State with a goal at the 8:19 mark before Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.) added a power play goal for the Gulls. Derek Makimaa (Swartz Creek, Mich.) added another score late for the Vikings to make the final 8-2.
Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) picked up the win in net, making 19 saves while Kyle Thibodeaux (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished the game in the third and made five stops. Jason Pucciarelli (Newmarket, Ontario), who had 53 saves, topped the 50-save mark for the second time in his career.
