Winning Weekend at Endicott – Hockey & Basketball Teams Post Wins – Keith Brown Leads Basketball Team…Again

Men’s Ice Hockey Trounces Western New England

BEVERLY – The No. 8/9 nationally ranked Endicott men’s ice hockey team produced a 9-2 conference victory over Western New England University on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Endicott showcased seven different scorers on the night including Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.) and Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.), who both scored twice, along with solo tallies from Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.), Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.), Anthony Petrella (Hilton, N.Y.), Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), and John Carricato (Ridge, N.Y.).
The Gulls went up 5-0 after the first period, and added two more goals in the second before Western New England finally found the scoreboard at the 17:37 mark of the period, but by then Endicott had virtually put the game on ice.
Meanwhile, in goal, Mark Specia (Ringwood, N.J.) stopped 24 shots to improve to 5-1-0 on the season.

No. 8/9 Endicott (9-1-0, 8-0-0 CCC) hosts Johnson & Wales University on Friday, December 8 at 7 PM. Western New England (4-7-1, 1-6-1 CCC) travels to the University of New England next Friday at 7 PM.


Women’s Ice Hockey Downs Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The No. 7 Endicott women’s ice hockey team defeated Salve Regina by a score of 3-1 tonight at the St. George’s School Ice Rink.
The Gulls took a 1-0 lead late in the first period on a goal from Teneal Perry (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada).
Just over six minutes into the second frame, Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) made it 2-0 nothing in favor of Endicott with her fourth goal of the season.
Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) added another goal less than seven minutes later to put the Gulls up 3-0.
Salve Regina responded with a tally from Amanda Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 3-1 heading into the final period of play.
Endicott continued to pressure offensively but netminder Jennifer O’Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) was able to come up with several big saves to keep the score at 3-1 through the remainder of the contest.

No. 7 Endicott (9-0-1, 5-0-1 CHC) travels to Wesleyan (Conn.) on Friday, Dec. 8 for a 7 p.m. contest. Salve Regina (2-10-0, 1-5-0 NEHC) is at Nichols on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 5:40 p.m.


Men’s Basketball tops Curry 

BEVERLY – The Endicott men’s basketball team saw 12 student-athletes find the scoring column in an 88-48 conference win over Curry College on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) led all scorers with 24 points (10-17 FG, 3-8 3PT, 1-3 FT), while Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) and Jordan Pettway (Bridgeport, Conn.) both notched double-digit scoring efforts with 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Rob O’Brien (Rindge, N.H.) also contributed eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field to go along with three rebounds, one assist, a block, and two steals to highlight the win.
The Gulls outscored Curry 50-18 in the paint (17-6 fast break) and outrebounded their opposition 47-34. Vinny Clifford (Danvers, Mass.) did most of the damage on the glass for Endicott with eight rebounds (two offensive) – plus five points scoring – while Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) also pulled down six caroms, scored three points, and had a block and a steal.

Endicott (3-2, 1-1 CCC) hosts the University of New England on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:30 PM. Curry (1-6, 0-2 CCC) travels to Gordon this coming Tuesday for a 5:30 PM tip-off.


Women’s Basketball Defeats Curry

BEVERLY — The Endicott women’s basketball team defeated Curry, 58-52, tonight in MacDonald Gymnasium.
The game was close for the opening two quarters, but the Gulls went into halftime with a 35-30 lead.
Curry attempted a rally late in the third quarter and came within two points twice, but Endicott was able to hold onto the lead and eventually extend it to 49-40 by the end of the third.
The Gulls continued to hold the upper hand as they went onto a 58-52 victory.
Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) led the team in points (16) while Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) recorded 12 points and led the Gulls in rebounds with nine.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Also tallying points for the Gulls on the night were Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.), Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.), Emma Tierney (Wolfeboro, N.H.), Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.), Catie Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) and Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.).
Putnam led the team in assists with four.
Coppola and Pratt each had three steals on the night.
Putnam, Pratt, and Tierney led the team in blocks with three each.
The Gulls held the 46-30 rebound advantage over the Colonels.
Endicott’s bench recorded 12 points to Curry’s two.
The Gulls also recorded 12 points on second chances, while the Colonels only had two.
