Local (Saugus & Danvers) Endicott Field Hockey Players Honored – Endicott Men’s and Women’s Basketball Results – Salem State Basketball Teams in Action Tonight

BEVERLY — Four Endicott field hockey student-athletes were named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-New England East teams. Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) and Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) were named to the First Team, while Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) and Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) were selected for the Second Team.
Cogliano tallied 25 goals and four assists for 54 points throughout 21 games to lead the team in both goals and points. She broke the Endicott single-season records for goals (25), points (54) and game-winning goals (9) as well. Cogliano earned All-CCC First Team honors for her efforts on the field.
Wood was the anchor of an Endicott defense that contributed to four shutouts throughout the season. She also added seven goals and three assists for 17 points on the offensive end of the field. Wood was named CCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-CCC First Team.
Crowley was a key member of the midfield for the Gulls and tallied five goals, three assists, and 13 points during the season. She started in all 21 games and was also named to the All-CCC First Team.
Rounding out the Second Team selections was Farrin. She started all 21 games in net for Endicott and had an overall record of 16-4, with four shutouts. Farrin finished the season with a GAA of 1.30, a save percentage of .823 and was named CCC Rookie of the Year and to the All-CCC First Team.
Endicott (17-4, 11-1 CCC) had a successful 2017 season. The Gulls finished as regular season co-champions and made an appearance in the CCC championship game where they ultimately fell to the University of New England by a close score of 2-1


College Sports Tonight

Endicott Men’s Basketball Falls in League Opener 

BEVERLY – The Endicott men’s basketball team traveled to Nichols for their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest of the season and were handed a 105-82 loss.
Deante Bruton (New London, Conn.) led the Bison in points with 30 (12-18 FG, 4-8 3PT, 2-2 FT) and also recorded six rebounds and five assists. Daequon Antoine (Fort Mill, S.C.) went 5-for-8 beyond the arc and tallied a total of 22 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, for Endicott, sophomore guard Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) recorded a team-high 13 points, while Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) and Joe Shehadi (Dorset, Vt.) were close behind with 12 points. Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) had seven assists and nine points on the night. Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team in rebounds with eight (seven defensive).

Endicott Women’s Basketball Wins League Game

BEVERLY — The Endicott women’s basketball team opened Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Nichols tonight and came away with a 66-54 win.
The Gulls jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter but the Bison kept up the pressure and closed the distance to within six points at the end of the first ten minutes of play.
Nichols continued to pressure in the second quarter and came within four points with a little under a minute remaining in the frame but Endicott picked up the pace and went into halftime with a 32-25 lead.
In the third quarter, the Gulls increased that lead to 50-36.
The Bison upped the tempo in the fourth quarter and came within eight points in the closing minutes, but Endicott ultimately held onto the 66-54 victory.
Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) led the team in both points (19) and rebounds (9), while Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) recorded 16 points and led the Gulls in assists with five.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Also tallying points for the Gulls on the night were Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.), Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.), Emma Tierney (Wolfeboro, N.H.), Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.).
Catie Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) pulled down five rebounds during the contest.
Coppola had two steals on the night.
Charette recorded a season-high four blocks.
