The Vikings are now 0-5 on the season while the Judges improve to 4-2.

Salem State trailed by just two at the end of the first quarter as Fernandes led the way with nine points. However, the Vikings shot just 10-36 (27.8%) in the first half, allowing Brandeis to build a 32-23 advantage at halftime.  Leading by a point, the Judges went on a 11-2 run over a two minute span in the second quarter to surge ahead 30-20 with 2:16 remaining. Joelle MarkAnthony (Wallingford, Conn.) had six points during the skein as Brandeis closed the quarter with a nine-point advantage. The Judges shot at a 42.3% (11-26) clip in the first half.

A layup by Gillian O’Malley (Scituate, Mass.) gave the Judges their largest lead 46-30 with 3:47 left in the quarter. The Vikings did not quit and continued to play played hard as their press helped reduce the deficit. Six quick points by Brown and two free throws by Fernandes drew Salem State to within eight at 46-38. The Vikings could not get any closer as the inside game of Katie Goncalo (Fall River, Mass.), who ended with 18 points and eight boards, and Sarah Jaromin (E.
