Orville Giddings Live In-Studio Performance (Video, Audio) at Greg Verga’s “Unfinished Music” Studio

Orville Giddings,  was LIVE in-studio April 19 at Greg Verga’s “Unfinished Music.”  His acoustic sounds and some .mp3s are featured OnDemand below.  The video of today’s performance will be available shortly.

Playing in bands in high school, and in and around college, after nine years of on/ off attendance, he got a degree from Berklee College of music in music production and engineering in 1992.

After various stints working and playing abroad and around the country, he settled back in Ipswich in 1994, playing music and giving guitar lessons.

Since then he has been playing a variety of music with different people and soloing, as well. The Orville Giddings Band has morphed several times from being a 4 piece blues band to the 6 or more piece band he works with now. With keyboards and horns, The OGB large band still does blues numbers but also mixes in a lot of soul, older style R&B, rock and roll and even a little country. As with the initial OGB, the current repertoire is still designed to make you move and groove.

In addition to the OGB, Orville plays quite a number of acoustic style gigs. Sometimes they are solo but he also duos and trios with other guitar players, namely Gloucester’s Allen Estes, or with mandolin, upright bass and percussion.

Orville plays an extensive list of known and not so well known cover songs in addition to a number of originals.

Currently you may find Orville playing a little solo coffee house gig to fronting his large band for couple thousand folks every year for the season finale at the Castle Hill summer concert series at The Crane Estate in Ipswich. In addition, he plays clubs and weddings, corporate events and functions of any sort small and large and cover a variety of styles depending on the need.
