GROSSACK CHARGED IN 2016 LYNN MURDER / District Attorney Statement

The Essex District Attorney’s Office has obtained a warrant charging David Grossack, 47, with murder in connection with the death of a 56-year old Lynn woman.

On Thursday, December 29, 2016, Lynn Police responded to an apartment at 40 Newhall Street to investigate a reported death.  They found the body of Kathleen Burgess in an advanced state of decomposition.  Police had been notified by the victim’s daughter who had gone to check on her mother after having not heard from her for several days.

Essex State Police Detectives and Lynn Police noted signs of a struggle at the scene.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, upon inspection of the body, ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma and identified multiple facial fractures.

Investigators learned that Ms. Burgess was in a dating relationship with Mr. Grossack and that he had been at her apartment.

Mr. Grossack will be arraigned for murder in Lynn District Court on Monday, April 3, 2017.

Mr. Grossack was recently apprehended in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in connection with another homicide in Everett.  The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting that case.

He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
