Ipswich Police Officer Struck by Dump Truck While Working Road Detail
IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul A. Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department is investigating after a police officer, working a road detail, was struck by a dump truck and sustained serious injuries.
At 8:44 a.m., an officer working a detail on Linebrook Road for a road paving project was struck by a dump truck that was reversing with a load of hot top, which was part of the paving job.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with serious lower leg injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver is cooperating with police. The incident is under investigation by the Ipswich Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
