Newburyport Police Arrest Two Amesbury Men in Connection with Armed Sunday Night Robbery – Police Report / Photos

 

NEWBURYPORT— City Marshal Mark Murray reports that the Newburyport Police Department arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery last night.

JUSTIN DONAHUE, AGE 19, OF AMESBURY and DAMON BAROWY, AGE 18, OF AMESBURY are each charged with:

• Armed Robbery (four counts)

• Armed Assault with Intent to Rob (one count)

On Sunday, Feb. 19, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police received a report of an armed robbery outside Riverside Cycles at the Tannery Shopping Center.

Upon arrival, police located five juvenile victims who stated they had been robbed at gunpoint and their backpacks and wallets were stolen. They were not injured.

The victims were able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle, which was given to area police departments.

At approximately 8 p.m., a Salisbury Police Officer stopped a vehicle on Lafayette Road for speeding that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Seabrook, Amesbury and Newburyport Police also responded to the scene.

Inside the vehicle, police located DONAHUE and BAROWY, along with a female juvenile. Following an on-scene investigation, both men were placed under arrest.

“I want to thank our neighboring police departments for assisting the Newburyport Police Department in locating and arresting these two suspects,” Marshal Murray said. “We’re thankful that no one was injured as a result of this armed robbery.”

DONAHUE and BAROWY were transported to the Middleton House of Corrections pending their arraignment at Newburyport District Court. DONAHUE is being held on $3,000 cash bail and BAROWY is being held on $2,500 cash bail.
