Thursday Game Results –

Navigators Crush Blues 14-1 For Fourth Straight Victory

After a night that saw the North Shore Navigators and the Bristol Blues go 17 innings without reaching a conclusion, the teams got a different result on Thursday morning. In front of nearly 2,000 fans on Kid’s Day, the Navigators put the hammer down on the Blues, crushing them 14-1 to move ahead of their opponents in the playoff standings.

The Navigators got an excellent effort out of their starting pitcher Jake Dexter (Southern Maine). One day after the Navigators used seven of their pitchers, Dexter gave them the performance that they needed. He worked eight innings on the day and only allowed one run. The first seven innings he threw were scoreless and he added three strikeouts to his season total. He also only allowed five hits. His stellar pitching really allowed the Navigators to build such an insurmountable lead.

Speaking of the Navigators’ offense, they were able to explode during the day, but their biggest inning came in the fifth inning. They were already sporting a 4-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth, but they managed to open up the game in that inning. Jordan Roper (Marist College) got on via a walk to start the inning and would later score on a Mike D’Acunti (Southeastern University) triple. D’Acunti would come in on a Nick DiBenedetto (Trinity College) single that made the score 6-0.

Following that, Christian Cabrera (Broward CC) cracked a double that brought home DiBenedetto and Colby Maiola (UMass Lowell). Cabrera would score shortly after on a double by MacDaniel Singleton, making the game 9-0. They would tack on one more run at the end of the inning to make it 10-0 and they never looked back from there.

Of all the offensive performers, Singleton stood out during the day. In five at bats, Singleton went 4-4, to raise his average to .329, and reached base once on a walk. He also produced four runs during the game, tallying two RBIs during the game and scoring two runs of his own.

Another great offensive performance came from the aforementioned DiBenedetto. He went 3-4 and scored three runs. He also drove in one run to match Singleton’s four runs produced.

The Navigators will return to action on Friday, July 29 for a Firework Friday game against the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the fireworks display will take place immediately after the game
