UPDATE: Missing Newburyport Man Found in Virginia

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray and the Newburyport Police Department report that STEVEN ST CYR, a Newburyport man who had been missing since Tuesday, Feb. 21, has been found in Virginia.

ST CYR was located this morning in Amherst County, Va. by a search party composed of law enforcement officials from local agencies. He was unharmed, and police do not suspect foul play. He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Newburyport Police have notified ST CYR’s family.

The Newburyport Police Department would like to thank the Virginia State Policies, municipal agencies, and everyone involved in the search effort.

 

 

 

Newburyport Police Investigating a Series of Church Break-ins

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Mark Murray reports that the Newburyport Police Department is actively investigating a series of reported break-ins at three local churches over the weekend.

Police believe the break-ins occurred between the evening hours of Sunday, Feb. 26 and the morning of Monday, Feb. 27.

Police received three separate reports from the following places of worship:

• First Religious Society Church and Parish Hall, 26 Pleasant St.

• First Church of Christ Science, 22 Inn St.

• Old South First Presbyterian Church, 29 Federal St.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from each location.

Police are investigating whether or not the incidents are connected.
