Coach Kerri O’Connor comments, ” We ended our season tonight with a loss but battling until the end. Our three captains did a terrific job tonight and all season holding the team together, keeping them united and encouraging them to never give up.  Meghan O’Connor had 6 kills, consistent serving and hustled all over the court to give it her all for her team. Emily Davidson and Lauren Kennedy played aggressively at the net and Talia Kaplanian kept calm control with her passing. I am extremely proud of this whole team for making it to the finals in our second year as a varsity program. They have paved the way for players behind them to press on to reach these same goals! It was an honor to have coached them”

Comments from Ipswich girls cross country coach Steve Bartholomew

“This is only the 2nd time in my time at Ipswich that the girls have qualified for the all state meet. The last time was my first year and they got 5th that year. So when the results were posted and I saw that they had gotten second overall I was elated. This group of girls has gone through a very tough season of hard practices and not getting a lot of wins in the regular season. However I think it was a combination of that tough competition and the team’s collective resolve to not give up on themselves or their teammates that got them to this point. I’m very proud of each of them.”

– The boys were really on the cusp, coming in 5th overall (the top 4 teams qualify). In this race both Kellen and Jack qualified for the all state meet and also looked the strongest they have all season. It is great to see them hitting their stride at the right time and will be awesome to see them run next week.
