CHELMSFORD – The Gloucester High School Fisherman (14-5-3) advance to the D2 North semifinals of the MIAA hockey tournament after a 4-2 win over the Tewksbury Redmen (14-6-2) at the Chelmsford Forum Friday night. Goaltender Noah Poliskey racked up 35 saves for the Fishermen to preserve the win. Four different players scored for Gloucester who led 2-0 after 1, and 3-1 after 2.
Even though Tewksbury had a vast territorial and size advantage, Derek Hopkins and Eddie Mohoney had put Gloucester out in front with goals in the first period. Christopher Noyes put the Fishermen up 3-1 in the second, before Tewksbury’s Jonathan Verrill’s goal brought the Redmen back to within one in the third period. An empty-net goal by Sal Constanzo put the game away with just 47 seconds left.
Gloucester will play Lincoln-Sudbury, 5-4 overtime winners over North Reading, on Tuesday at the Chelmsford Forum.
