LYNN – Kevin Coppinger has been working in public safety for 33 years, 30 years in Lynn, and the last seven as Lynn’s chief of police. In March, Coppinger announced his candidacy for Essex County Sheriff. In a radio interview Coppinger shares his thoughts on the national issues around policing in urban communities as well as budget cuts to his department. Also, in the interview he provides information on several of the programs Lynn Police have initiated around prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation programs. The Democratic primary is Thursday September 8th.
