Lynn Murder Suspects Held Without Bail

A Lynn man and woman were ordered held without bail by Judge James Fitzpatrick following their arraignment for Murder in Lynn District Court late this afternoon.

James BELMER, (dob: 1/1/1995) and Jasmin GARCIA, (dob: 4/23/1992), both of Lynn are accused of beating and kicking Issac Suggs, 44, to death outside his home on Saturday, July 15th.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Kaitlyn Giliberti told the court that on Saturday, July 15th, Lynn Police responded to a reported fight outside of 110 Newhall Street.  The defendants, the victim and another witness were present.  Police were told that the victim had fallen and he was transported to Salem Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.  On the way to the hospital, the victim’s condition dramatically deteriorated due to serious head trauma.  He was subsequently med-flighted to Massachusetts General Hospital.  Mr. Suggs died of his injuries on Monday (7/17) morning.

Through their investigation, Lynn Police learned that there had been a dispute among the defendants and the victim over money.  After the dispute became physical, the defendants repeatedly beat and kicked the victim about the head and body for approximately four and a half minutes.

The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for August 14, 2017.
