Lynn Classical Baseball Captures Clancy Tournament With 3-2 Win Over St. Mary’s – Finish Season at 19-1 – Photos & Videos

LYNN – (Video & Photos) The Lynn Classical baseball team captured the 2017 Nipper Clancy Title on Saturday with a 3-2 win over St. Mary’s. Classical got good pitching from Herbie Newton, Brett Bucklin and Andrew Moccia (Tournament MVP) came in to get the game’s final out with runners at first and third. St. Mary’s pitcher, Bobby Alcock,  pitched well enough to earn a win and also had a RBI single in the 4th inning. Classical scored all of their runs on miss plays by the Spartans trying to cut down Classical base runners. Ram’s catcher Matt Lauria picked off a St. Mary’s base runner at second base, preventing a possible additional St. Mary’s run in 4th inning. Classical scored a single run in the 2nd inning and two runs crossed the plate on the same play in the 6th inning when St. Mary’s appeared to have a Classical runner in a run down, only later to have two runs score. St. Mary’s scored single runs in the 4th and 5th inning. Lynn Classical finishes the regular season at 19-1. St. Mary’s ends the regular season at 13-7.

North Reading topped Lynn English 4-2 in 9 innings in the consolation game.
