Local College Teams Post Wins – Summaries From Endicott College and Salem State – High School XC – MIAA Scores

Endicott Men’s Basketball Wins 

BABSON PARK, Mass. – Endicott sophomore guard Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) scored a career-high 38 points – highlighted by a single-game record 10 3-pointers – to guide the Gulls past Regis, 75-70, in the first round of the Babson Invitational on Saturday evening at Staake Gymnasium.
Brown’s 38-point performance (13-26 FG, 10-19 3PT, 2-2 FT) also ranks second on the single-game scoring list behind Kamahl Walker’s ’17 (Worcester, Mass.) 47-point game against Keene State College on November 15, 2015.

Endicott (1-0) will face No. 7 nationally ranked Babson in Sunday’s championship game at 3 PM. Regis (0-2) plays Worcester State tomorrow in the consolation game at 1 PM


Salem State Men’s Basketball Wins 

WILLIAMSTOWN – An explosive second half helped the Salem State Vikings overcome the Suffolk University Rams 82-74 in the consolation game of the Williams Tip-Off Tournament. Senior Shaquan Murray led the Vikings with 22 points, and in the process, scored his 1,000th career point. Murray now has 1,012 points and is the 29th Viking to reach the 1,000 career-point plateau.

Tyreik McCauley poured in 21 points and Drew Healy also had a strong performance with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Salem State. Thomas Duffy scored 22 points for Suffolk.

Salem State will host Gordon on Tuesday night.


Endicott Women’s Basketball Wins

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — The Endicott women’s basketball team defeated Norwich, 55-44, during the consolation game of The Cave Classic hosted by Bridgewater State.
The Gulls took an early 7-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first quarter and continued to build that lead to 35-20 by the end of the second quarter.
Norwich responded in the third quarter with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 10 points, before Endicott upped the pressure and extended their lead to 48-35 with one quarter remaining to be played in the contest.
The Cadets continued to battle throughout the fourth quarter and closed the gap to within 10 points but the Gulls were able to secure the 55-44 victory

Endicott (1-1, 0-0 CCC) hosts Keene State on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in MacDonald Gymnasium


Endicott Men’s Ice Hockey Wins 
BEVERLY – The No. 11/12 nationally ranked Endicott men’s ice hockey team beat Curry College, 7-1, on Saturday night in a conference matchup at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) led the Gulls with a pair of goals, while Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.), Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), Anthony Petrella (Hilton, N.Y.) and Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.) all potted solo tallies in the win, Endicott’s sixth straight since November 2.
Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) dished out three helpers and Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) recorded 35 saves to move to 3-0-0 on the season. Ketola’s shutout bid was dissolved late in the third as Jarret Kup (Rosseau, Ontario) found the back of the net at the 9:03 mark of the period

No. 11/12 Endicott (6-1-0, 6-0-0 CCC) travels to Salem State University on Sunday, November 26 for a non-conference game at 2 PM. Curry (3-4-1, 2-3-1 CCC) visits Johnson & Wales University on Thursday, November 30 at 6:55 PM.


Endicott Women’s Ice Hockey Wins

BEVERLY – The No. 10 Endicott women’s ice hockey team downed Nichols 3-1 on Saturday night at Levy Rink.
The game remained scoreless through the first period and most of the second frame as well. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the second, Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) gave Endicott a 1-0 lead with help from Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska).
Mel McAleer (Hanson, Mass.) evened the score at 1-1, just over four minutes into the third period.
Meier netted the eventual game-winner as time wound down in regulation. Assisting on the play were Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.) and Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.).
With less than two minutes remaining in the third frame, Meier added an insurance goal for the Gulls to secure the 3-1 victory.

No. 10 Endicott (6-0-1, 5-0-1 CHC) faces Stevenson on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. at the 11th Annual Codfish Bowl hosted by UMass Boston. Nichols (2-4-0, 2-4-0 CHC) travels to New England College for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Dec. 2.
