ROCKETT ARENA – (Audio, Video) The Beverly Panthers (7-2-1) beat the Swampscott Big Blue (3-2-3) by a score of 3-2 tonight at Salem State. Paul Edson netted the game-winner with a short-handed goal at 5:40 of the third period a little over two and a half minutes after Swampscott’s Steve Santonello had tied the game for the Big Blue. Beverly goaltender Troy Doyle withstood a furious barrage by Swampscott in the last two minutes to save the game.
Beverly had opened the game with a pair of goals in the first half of the opening period off the sticks of Ryan Munzing and Steve Hallinan.
Dom Codispotti cut the lead in half for Swampscott at 13:24 of the third, and Santonello tied it at 2:19 of the third.
Beverly hosts Winthrop on Saturday night at 7:40, while Swampscott will host Everett at 4:30, also on Saturday
