Lineman, Linebacker Game MVPS with North over the South in Agganis Football Classic

LYNN – The 56th Annual Harry Agganis All Star Football Classic was played at Manning Field in Lynn tonight at 7 p.m., with action between the North All Stars, coached by Beverly High School’s Andrew Morency and the South All Stars, coached by Northeast Tech’s Don Heres. In an entertaining and hard-hitting contest, the North came from behind to win 10-6.

The North’s Luke Samperi (Beverly High School) put his team out in front 3-0  with  :00 left at half time with a 20 yard field goal.  The South came roaring out of the gate to start the second half, amassing a 10 play, 80 yard touchdown drive finished off by a 4 yard touchdown run from Saugus lineman Cam Williamson (6’4, 245 lbs) running out of the fullback slot from a full house, straight T formation.

The North then put together a 6 play, 54 touchdown drive of their own after recovering the ensuing on-side kick.  Teshaun Watson (Haverhill High School) scored the only touchdown of the game on a 12 yard run with 3:20 left in the third quarter.  A late fourth-quarter scoring drive by the South was thwarted by the North’s defense with under a minute left in the game.

Hugh Calice (Beverly High School) was selected the North’s MVP following his outstanding play on defense all night.  Williamson who played three line positions, played on offense and defense, and also played at fullback, was named the South’s MVP..
