Pena Ortiz runs for 303 yards as Gloucester Tops Danvers 40-28; Danvers QB passes for over 300 yards

GLOUCESTER – The Danvers Falcons (6-5) amassed 406 yards of total offense, but still came up short as Gloucester (7-4) scored a 40-28 win, totaling 350 yards of offense themselves.

Jan Pena Ortiz (23 carries, 303 yard rushing) scored 3 touchdowns on runs of 66 yards, 15 yards, and 27 yards while Marc Smith scored a pair of tds, and Cody Burke added another to propel the Fishermen to the win.

Danvers quarterback Justin Mullaney (21 completions out of 34 passing attempts for 315 yards) fired two touchdown passes to Mathieu Reidy and another to Matt McCarthy (who also scored a rushing touchdown) to bring Danvers back time and again after Gloucester had built a 26-7 lead late in the third quarter.  Danvers closed the gap to within 6 points with 4:36 left in the game at 34-28, but could get no closer.
