Endicott Football Beats Becker 38-0 on Senior Day / Endicott Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Teams Post Wins –

BEVERLY – The Endicott football team turned in a 38-0 league victory against Becker on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium on Senior Day.
Prior to the game, seniors Ryan Bentz (Epping, N.H.), Christian Filonow (Nashua, N.H.), Brett Fox (Niantic, Conn.), Sam Hayes (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Geoffrey Paige (Abington, Mass.), Zachary Poirier (Pawcatuck, Conn.), Samuel Smith (Middlebury, Vt.), and Lavante Wiggins (Pittsfield, Mass.) were honored for their contributions towards the football program and the Endicott Community.
Sophomore quarterback Joe Kalosky (Plymouth, Conn.) threw for three touchdowns (14-for-25, two interceptions, 124 yards), while Riley Shanley (Simsbury, Conn.) caught two touchdowns on three catches (31 yards) to lead the Gulls. Wiggins also hauled in a TD catch for 18 yards, and compiled 95 yards total (61 rushing, 34 receiving) to highlight the rest of Endicott’s efforts.
FOR ENDICOTT
Shanley put the Gulls on the scoreboard first with an eight-yard TD in the right corner of the end zone at 6:29 of the second quarter on a tipped pass.
John Glaser (East Moriches, N.Y.) followed with a 25-yard field with eight seconds remaining in the half before, Wiggins and Shanley produced back-to-back 18-yard scores through the air in the third (3:45, 17-0 lead) and fourth (10:02, 24-0 lead) quarters, respectively.
Glaser finished with eight points total (one field goal, five extra points) and also compiled 354 yards on kickoffs (seven attempts, 50.6 average).
Meanwhile, Hakim Fleming (Bridgeport, Conn.) made it 31-0 with 6:22 to play in the game with a one-yard plunge, while Spencer Burton (Waltham, Mass.) capped off the scoring with a 25-yard scamper with 42-seconds left on the clock.
The Gulls outgained Becker, 340-37.
Defensively, Endicott only allowed two first downs, two passing yards, and 35 rushing yards. The Gulls also held the Hawks 0-for-11 in third down conversions.
Paige collected a team-high nine tackles (one solo, eight assisted, 1.5 TFL), and forced one fumble.
Dave DiMare (Reading, Mass.) and Kevin O’Brien (Braintree, Mass.) tied for second on the team in tackles apiece. O’Brien also blocked a punt, while DiMare forced one fumble.
Allen Gibson (Seymour, Conn.) and Filonow rounded out the list of forced turnovers for the Gulls with a forced fumble and interception, respectively. Gibson ended the day with three tackles, including a nine-yard sack.
Endicott’s last shutout came against Nichols at home on September 24, 2016 (37-0 win).
FOR BECKER
David Collins (Staten Island, N.Y.) rushed for a team-high 31 yards.
Michael Bianco (Manorville, N.Y.) posted a game-high 14 tackles (three solo, 11 assisted, 1.0 TFL).
Daniel Whittenburg (Eastford, Conn.) had 10 tackles (four solo, six assisted, 1.0 TFL).
Angel Flores (Azusa, Calif.) and Shahiem Wilson (Naples, Fla.) picked off one pass each.

Men’s Hockey

WORCESTER – Behind a hat trick from junior forward Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.), the No. 13/14 nationally ranked Endicott men’s ice hockey team defeated Becker, 9-1, on Saturday night at the Worcester Ice Arena.
Tonight’s win completed the home-and-home series sweep against the Hawks for Endicott, as the Gulls outscored their opposition 21-3 in the pair of contests.
Along with goals from Olsson, Endicott also received tallies from Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.), Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.), Jack Musil (Hull, England), and Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel, Park, Pa.). Kucerovy led the aforementioned group with two tallies, while Daniels, Bowes, Rodgers, and Musil all found the back of the net once, respectively.
Meanwhile, Endicott starting netminder Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) made 12 saves in net to move to 2-0-0 on the season. Backup Kyle Thibodeaux (Glastonbury, Conn.) also stopped five shots in one period of action (third).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Endicott is 6-0-0 all-time against Becker.
The Gulls are 2-0-0 on the road this season.
Olsson also dished out one assist to finish with four points on the night. It marks the fourth time in his career he has registered a four-point game.
FOR THE FOES
MacGregor Howey (Grosse Ile, Mich.) broke open the shutout at the 16;36 mark of the second period to make it a 5-1 game at the time.
Alex Kielczewski (Grand Prairie, Texas) assisted on the tally.
Ryan Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) had 31 saves in the loss (0-1-1).

Women’s Hockey

BEVERLY – The No. 9 Endicott women’s ice hockey team defeated Johnson & Wales University, 4-1, in a conference matchup on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.), Teneal Perry (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), Maeve Moynihan (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Dynnea Bezona (Fairbanks, Alaska) all tallied goals in the win. Perry’s goal at 12:14 of the first period served as the game-winner (2-0 lead), while Moynihan’s first career collegiate tally at 12:36 of the second period highlighted the four-goal outburst for the Gulls.
Junior goalkeeper Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) also stopped 20 shots to improve her record to 3-0-1 on the year and 30-9-6 in her career (45 games played).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Endicott is 5-0-1 in the all-time series against Johnson & Wales.
Junior defensemen Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) recorded her second multi-point game of the season by dishing out assists on Gibbs (6:08, 1st period) and Perry’s goals (12:14, 2nd period). She also blocked two shots in the contest.
Bezona won a team-high six faceoffs.
Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn.) finished with a game-high plus-three rating.
FOR JOHNSON & WALES
Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) broke up the shutout at the 17:24 mark of the third with a wrister from the slot on feeds from Hannah Tracy (Hanson, Mass.) and Taylor Davis (Windsor, N.Y.).
It was Westgaard’s team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) made a game-high 49 saves in the loss (0-5-1).
