Endicott Men’s Basketball Wins – Headed to League Championship Game Saturday

WENHAM  – The Endicott men’s basketball team traveled to Gordon for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinal game and came away with an 86-70 victory.

Both teams came out hungry in the opening minutes of the game, with Gordon going up 6-2 with two early three-pointers.

The Gulls and the Fighting Scotts would go on to see three ties and seven lead changes throughout the first half.

Endicott, however, was able to go on an 11-5 run in the final three minutes of play to head into halftime with a 37-33 lead.

The beginning of the second half was much like the first, with both teams going back and forth taking the lead.

However, the Gulls saw three three-pointers in a row from Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) to go up 73-56 with just under seven minutes left.

The Fighting Scotts attempted a rally but Endicott stood tall to secure the 86-70 win.

Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) led the Gulls with 25 points (9-20 FG, 3-10 3PT, 4-5 FT) and 12 rebounds, while McDevitt added 19 points (7-9 FG, 5-6 3PT) and five rebounds.

WHAT’S NEXT  No. 3 seed Endicott (19-8, 12-6 CCC) will travel to No. 1 Nichols (24-3, 16-2 CCC) for the CCC Championship game on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.


 

Endicott Women’s Basketball Falls

BRISTOL, R.I. – The third-seeded Endicott women’s basketball team fell to No. 2 seed Roger Williams, 58-50, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament semifinals on Thursday night at the Recreation Center Gymnasium.

Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) paced Endicott in the loss with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-21 shooting (7-for-9 3PT, 3-fo-4 FT) to go along with five rebounds and one assist. Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) contributed 17 points and six rebounds, while Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) had two points, six rebounds, a game-high seven assists, a block and a steal.

Leading 32-25 at the half, Roger Williams established its largest advantage of the entire game with a 7-3 run to begin the third quarter (11 points, 39-28, 4:26) and held on the rest of the way to advance to the CCC Championship game this Saturday.

Endicott pulled within three points twice late in the contest (39-36, 3rd quarter, 1:49 | 42-39, 4th quarter, 6:59), but Roger Williams answered both times to fend off each comeback bid by the Gulls.

FIRST HALF
Roger Williams used two separate runs in the first half to build up a 32-25 advantage at the break.
Tied 14-14 with 1:37 remaining in the first quarter, the Hawks put together an 8-0 run that carried over into the second for a 22-14 lead (7:46 remaining | largest deficit for Endicott, at the time).
Endicott followed with an 11-4 spurt of their own to make it a 26-25 matchup with 2:08 remaining in the first half. Pratt spearheaded the run with five points, while Kiernan added four and Putnam chipped in with two.
Roger Williams answered Endicott, however, as the Hawks notched a 6-0 run over the final 1:50 of play for their 7-point lead at the half.
The first stanza featured one tie (14-14 at 1:37 of the first) and six lead changes. The last lead change in the half came with 50-seconds to play in the 1st quarter (Roger Williams, 15-14).

WHAT’S NEXT
No. 2 Roger Williams (23-4) will play No. 1 University of New England in the CCC Championship game this Saturday in Biddeford, Maine at a time to be determined later. Endicott sees its 2017-18 season come to a close at 17-10 overall.


 

Endicott Men’s Volleyball Wins 

FRANKLIN, Mass. – In their first ever meeting with New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) member Dean College, the Endicott men’s volleyball team won in straight sets over the Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-17).

Sophomore outside Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) had a match-high eight kills while both senior Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) and sophomore Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) struck seven kills each to lead Endicott’s offense. Five more kills by freshman middle Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) and another four from sophomore opposite Tim Fieseler (Bridgewater, N.J.) catapulted the Gulls to a .528 team hitting percentage.

Junior setter Adam Dake (Victor, N.Y.) and sophomore Chad Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) combined for 26 assists as 14 different players recorded a kill in the match.

Defensively, T. Riorden had a match-high 10 digs while junior libero Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and three other players tied for the second most digs on the team with three.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Tonight was Endicott’s first-ever meeting with Dean. The two teams will meet again, in Beverly, in the regular season finale on April 7
This was the third consecutive match in which Endicott hit over .500 as a team
Dey led the team with two total blocks including one solo stop

WHAT’S NEXT
Endicott (12-1, 3-0 NECC) will host NECC opponent Eastern Nazarene on Friday night at 7:00 PM in their next match. The Gulls will also hold Senior Day festivities prior to the start of the match. Dean (4-6, 0-2 NECC) hosts Emerson in non-conference action on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00 PM.
