“As Provost, Dr. Caron will be a key driver in developing academic offerings and strategies that are consistent with the changing landscape of higher education, so that Endicott may maintain positive growth and advance its position among peer institutions,” said Dr. Richard Wylie, President. “He will work to maintain and expand our entrepreneurial approach to professional development and liberal arts education, cultivate an integrated academic approach to undergraduate and graduate programs, and advance an inclusive, collaborative faculty culture aligned with Endicott’s mission and vision for the future. There’s much to do in this new position, and I am excited to see how Dr. Caron will apply his experience and knowledge to better our community.”

Beginning in June 2018, Dr. Caron will work to advance an academic vision that seeks to enhance academic standards. As a key member of the President’s leadership team, Caron will play a critical role in preparing students to address the global problems of today and put their ideas to effective use in the world. He will collaborate closely with the Vice President and Dean of the Undergraduate College and the Vice President and Dean of the Van Loan School on academic strategic planning including program and curriculum assessment.

With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Caron comes to Endicott from John’s Hopkins University, where he currently serves as the Associate Dean of the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences. Dr. Caron has taught undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses onsite and online. He is a member of UPCEA’s National Council for Online Education in Washington, DC and Chair of the International Leadership Network. Dr. Caron’s research interests focus on two strands of inquiry: online education and board governance. He is the first in his family to go to college, achieving his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in Higher Education Management. He received his Master’s in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Providence College.

Dr. Caron and his wife, Marissa, reside in Newton, MA where they have raised their two children, Jack and Olivia. Dr. Caron will begin work at Endicott in early June 2018.
